An abundance has been reported in the press just a while ago concerning the bingo industry being hit as a consequence of the smoking ban in the United Kingdom. Things have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for big aid to help keep the businesses from going bankrupt. But will the web variation of this classic game provide a lifeline, or might it in no way compare to its real life peer?

Bingo has been an age old game historically enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game recently had experienced a recent increase in appeal with younger men and women opting to hit the bingo parlors instead of the discos on a Saturday night. This is all about to change with the enforcement of the smoking ban around UK.

No longer will enthusiasts be able to smoke while marking numbers. Starting in the summer of ‘07 all public areas will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most common areas where folks enjoy smoking.

The outcome of the cigarette ban can already be felt in Scotland where smoking is already banned in the bingo parlors. Numbers have dropped and the industry is literally struggling for its life. But where did all the players go? Certainly they haven’t given up on this familiar game?
