Might the Anti Smoking Law in the United Kingdom Take Bingo Players Online?

An abundance has been stated in the press not long ago about the bingo industry struggling as a result of the smoking ban in Britain. Conditions have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded massive aid to assist in keeping the businesses afloat. But can the net variation of this traditional game provide a salvation, or might it not compare to its bricks and mortar peer?
Bingo is an established game historically enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. In any case the game of late had seen a recent return in popularity with younger members of society opting to hit the bingo parlors rather than the clubs on a Friday night. This is all about to be reversed with the introduction of the cigarette ban around UK.
Players will no longer be able to puff on cigarettes whilst dabbing numbers. Starting in the summer of ‘07 all public locations will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo halls, one of the most common areas where players enjoy smoking.
The effects of the anti smoking law can already be seen in Scotland where smoking is already barred in the bingo parlours. Players have plummeted and the industry is literally struggling for its life. But where have the players gone? Obviously they have not forgotten this familiar game?
The answer is on the net. Players realise that they can gamble on bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a drink and cigarette and still have a chance at big prizes. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.
Of course betting on online could never replace the social portion of heading down to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of players the governing edicts have left a number of bingo players with little choice.
