Much has been talked in the press not long ago concerning the bingo industry being hit as a consequence of the anti cigarette law in England. Things have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested huge aid to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. But will the internet adaptation of this classic game provide a lifeline, or might it not compare to its bricks and mortar relative?

Bingo is an classic game usually played by the "blue haired" generation. However the game recently had undergone a recent resurgence in appeal with younger people deciding to visit the bingo halls rather than the discos on a Saturday night. All this is about to be destroyed with the introduction of the cigarette ban across Britain.

No longer will gamblers be permitted to puff on cigarettes while dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of ‘07 every public place will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favorite locations where many people like to puff on cigarettes.

The outcome of the anti smoking law can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already not allowed in the bingo parlours. Players have plummeted and the business is literally struggling for to stay alive. But where did all the players go? Of course they have not deserted this ancient game?

The answer is on the net. People are now realizing that they can gamble on bingo using their computer at the same time enjoying a beer and fag and still have a chance at monstrous jackpots. This is a recent development and has happened almost perfectly with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course gambling on on the internet will never replace the communal aspect of going over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of people the rules have left a lot of bingo enthusiasts with no option.
