Bingo and Oklahoma: Two Peas in a Pod
by Rogelio on Apr.18, 2017, under Bingo
Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. That is due to the fact that the American Indian tribes of Oklahoma have operated Bingo sessions for many years. Clients from many of the neighboring states get in vans and head over to Oklahoma to play Bingo for the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a precedent setting decree by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. From that instance, twenty three of the 39 Indian bands located in Oklahoma have introduced bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Native tribes to take advantage of the gambling laws, and at this time operate 10 casinos of their own. Bingo was the game on which these gambling dens were built on. automated games like one armed bandits weren’t allowed, because they are thought to lead to gambling problems at a higher rate than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma law has altered to allow for gigantic Indian gaming casinos. You will now see Indian gambling halls with slots, video poker and blackjack tables. Craps and roulette are not yet approved in the Amerindian casinos yet, but this is simply a matter of time. Nobody can authority what having other casino games in the bingo houses will do for the draw of bingo.
