An abundance has been talked in the papers recently concerning the bingo industry singing the blues as a consequence of the cigarette ban in England. Conditions have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested big tax cuts to help keep the businesses from going bankrupt. But will the online adaptation of this classic game offer a reprieve, or will it in no way compare to its real life relative?

Bingo is an classic game usually played by the "blue rinse" generation. However the game of late had experienced a recent return in acceptance with younger people opting to visit the bingo halls in place of the bars on a Friday night. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the enacting of the smoking ban throughout England and Wales.

Players will no longer be able to puff on cigarettes whilst marking numbers. From the summer of 2007 every public area will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo halls, one of the most popular places where many people like to puff on cigarettes.

The effects of the anti smoking law can already be seen in Scotland where smoking is already barred in the bingo halls. Players have dropped and the business is literally fighting for to stay alive. But where did all the players go? Certainly they have not forgotten this age old game?
