Bingo and Oklahoma: Two Peas in a Pod

by Rogelio on Apr.26, 2021, under Bingo

Oklahoma has long been analogous with Bingo. That’s because the Amerindian tribes of Oklahoma have operated Bingo sessions for ages. Patrons from each of the nearby states get in vehicles and travel to Oklahoma to bet on Bingo for the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act became law after a landmark decree by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. From that instance, 23 of the 39 Native bands of Oklahoma have established bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma Amerindian tribes to take advantage of the betting rules, and today control 10 casinos of their own. Bingo was the game on which these gambling halls were founded. automated games like slots were not authorized, since they are believed to contribute to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma law has altered to permit gigantic Native gaming gambling halls. You will now see Native gambling halls with slot machines, video poker and black jack tables. Craps and roulette are not approved in the Indian gambling dens as of yet, however this is simply a waiting game. No one can authority what having different gambling hall games in the bingo houses will do for the popularity of bingo.
