Bingo and Oklahoma: Two birds of a feather

Oklahoma has long been interrelated with Bingo. That’s because the Amerindian bands of Oklahoma have run Bingo games for many years. Guests from all of the nearby states pile in automobiles and head over to Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a precedent setting decision by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. From that time, 23 of the 39 American Indian bands of Oklahoma have established bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma American Indian tribes to take advantage of the wagering restrictions, and today control 10 gambling dens of their very own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned gambling dens were built on. computerized games such as one armed bandits were not authorized, due to the fact that they’re believed to lead to gambling dependency more than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma law has changed to allow for gigantic Native gambling gambling dens. You will now find Amerindian casinos with one armed bandits, video poker and chemin de fer tables. Craps and roulette are still not allowed in the American Indian casinos as of yet, but this is only a matter of time. No one can authority whether having different games in the bingo parlors will do for the popularity of bingo.
