Bingo in Oklahoma
by Rogelio on Dec.09, 2021, under Bingo
Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. That’s owing to the fact that the Indian bands of Oklahoma have run Bingo sessions for decades. Patrons from many of the neighboring states get in autos and travel into Oklahoma to wager on Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a precedent setting ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. Since that time, 23 of the 39 American Indian bands of Oklahoma have opened bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma Amerindian band to take advantage of the betting rules, and at this time run 10 gambling halls of their own. Bingo is the game on which the above-mentioned casinos were built on. Electronic games like slots were not allowed, owing to the fact that they’re thought to lead to gambling problems more than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma governing edicts have changed to allow for big Native wagering casinos. You’ll now find Indian casinos with one armed bandits, video poker and black jack tables. Craps and roulette are still not approved in the American Indian gambling halls yet, however this is simply a waiting game. Nobody can authority whether having other gambling hall games in the bingo parlors will do for the draw of bingo.
